The reach of the Library goes beyond books. The DeKalb Library Foundation raises funds beyond tax dollars to enhance library programs that might not otherwise exist. During the pandemic, the Library was able to shift its support of the community from in-person programs and services to virtual and contact-free options. Funding from the DeKalb Library Foundation has allowed the Library to purchase equipment and resources to extend its virtual programming. In 2020, more than 500 literary, educational, STEAM, and cultural programs were accessed 45,000+ times. By using the Library’s contact-free services, we were able to continue to support hotspots for check-out, 1000 Books Before Kindergarten supplies, and summer reading program materials.
